“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”

Our sweet daddy and pawpaw, Coy Robert Robbins, made the transition on October 21, 2024. Though the last few months were trying, they were made more bearable thanks to all the caring health professionals who helped us on this journey.

Coy was born on March 20, 1938, in Cherokee, AL. His mother, Lois Barrett-Robbins Cross and his stepdad, John D. Cross guided him through his childhood years.

As an adult, he headed North to work on the railroad, eventually landing in Elgin, Joliet and Eastern, where he worked for more than 20 years.

After the passing of his sweetheart, Wanda Lee, he moved to Sumner, TX where he spent the next 19 years close to family.

Coy was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his two sisters, Dot Birdsong and Ann Blackwell; a son, Ron Gay; daughter-in-law, Jackie Gay and his parents.

He is survived by his children; Brenda Gay, Keith Gay, Danny (Barbara) Robbins, Ronnie Robbins, Candy Jarrell, and Doris (David) Michael; grandchildren, Ray (Leslie) Cowgill, Jamie (Patrick) Gloss, Joshua Johnson, Angela (Eli) Swelfer, Robby Gay, Michael Horvat, Matthew Gay, Erica Oliver, Emmalee Michael, Ellie Michael, Gabriel Albeik and Emanuel Albeik as well as several great-grandchildren.

We hope to carry on his legacy of hospitality, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to help anyone in need!

Visitation with friends and family will be Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2:00PM. “C.R” will be buried at Little Vine Cemetery following the service at Fry Gibbs.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Michael, DeWayne Jenkins, David Michael, Ryan Michael, Dusty Michael and Johnny Edwards.

Pastor Brad Michael will officiate.
