On October 3, 2024, North Lamar ISD hosted its 2nd Annual Night of Family Literacy (NFL Night), bringing families together for an evening of reading, fun, and community spirit. The event, held in the North Lamar athletic facility, focused on encouraging a love of reading while strengthening ties between students, athletes, and families.

Each student in attendance received a new book, which was made even more special by high school Panther athletes from the football, volleyball, cheer, and cross country teams, who read to the students and autographed their books. These athletes served as both readers and role models, inspiring younger students to develop a passion for literacy and teamwork.

Adding to the excitement, families enjoyed free hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the Credit Union of Texas, allowing everyone to gather and share a meal together. Students also had a memorable opportunity to take pictures with the Panther mascot and experience the thrill of running through the Panther head, just like the football players do on game nights.

North Lamar ISD extends its gratitude to the athletes, families, staff, and sponsors who made this year’s event a success. The district is committed to continuing initiatives like NFL Night that foster academic growth and community involvement.
